- Send you appointment confirmations
- Send you appointment reminders
- Send you messages regarding results or other information that you need to be aware of
- Send you relevant health campaigns that are pertinent to you eg Flu Clinic invitations
- Send you other health information that may be useful
- Send you Friends and Family Survey requests
If at any time you do not wish to receive such text messages please inform a member of the reception team who will be able to opt you out of the service.
If at any time in the future you change your mobile phone number please ensure that you let us know as soon as possible so that we can keep our records up to date and stay in touch.

Urgent Care Centre - Urgent Care Centre Information
This service is located at the BBC Island on London Road and is for planned dressings, minor burns and scalds, minor head injury with no loss of consciousness, skin infections and animal bites, suspected broken bones, sprains and strains (X-Ray will be available on-site), eye infections and minor eye injuries. No appointment is needed, just drop in between 7am and 9pm 365 days a year.
NHS 111 Service is available 24hours a day and provides access to health advisors and nurses who can assess your need and direct you to the most appropriate services.
Remember that A&E and 999 should only be used in emergencies. Using them for minor problems or because you have no transport puts other people’s lives at risk and wastes NHS money that could be spent elsewhere. Phoning GP practice or 111 any time will usually result in faster and more appropriate advice and treatment. Arriving at A&E by ambulance does not give you priority over other patients. Please telephone 111 in the first instance or your local pharmacy.
For minor ailments and self help the NHS Choices website offers an abundance of advice and guidance and is available at the touch of a button.
